Let’s talk about how to reinvent yourself because let’s face it, sometimes we want to change. It could be within our career, who we are as a person, health wise… whatever it is… I will take you through three steps to help you do it.
Fear is the number one thing that holds us back in life when it comes to wanting to do something new, so the first thing you need to do is shift your thinking and get excited. Acknowledge any fears that are there, spend a little time figuring out why they are there so you can let them go and then do that. Let them go and get excited. Write down all of the things you are going to get from reinventing yourself, write down how you’re going to feel (always so important) and what that new person is going to do and look like in the world. The more excited you can get, the better! It’s all about energy here, we’re trying to get it up as high as we can.
If you know me at ALL, you know that I’m obsessed with setting goals and there’s a good reason for it. They work. Plain and simple. Once you get your goals in place, you give yourself a direction to go. Once the ball is rolling it’s far easier to keep going because you will have momentum and a plan. You need a plan, so set those goals.
Often times what happens is we get so excited and we’re ready to rock but then with that also comes impatience because we want to be that new person now. Like right now. And then when we realize it’s going to take some time, we get a frustrated and impatient and we may quit. So to avoid that, make sure you give yourself a realistic amount of time to make all the changes necessary. Do your research and figure those timelines out. When you add that to your goals set in step number 2, you will have a secure plan to move you forward and become whoever or whatever it is you have set out to become.
