Last week we talked about WHY you should be your true self and this week we’re going to talk about HOW to do it. So if you haven’t checked out last week’s vlog post make sure to do that here!
If you want to learn by example, watch kids. They have this one nailed. (And it’s not too often you can say this.) They aren’t old enough to have the insecurities and lack of self confidence yet so they just go. They just are who they are without thinking about it.. So watch them, and learn.
You may think you know but it’s only because you’ve actually never thought about it.. I’m willing to put money on the fact that when you really ask yourself this question, you’re going to get a bit stumped. And that’s only because we never take the time to figure it out. So do that now. Take out a piece of paper and write out all the things that represent who you are. What do you like? What don’t you like? And the key here is to search deep. Because a lot of the time we think we like something because we’ve done it so long (I love basketball because I played it my whole life, I was team captain in high school, and I was really good. I hate basketball, it hurts my knees and I’d rather be fishing.)
You get the drift. Sometimes we grow out of things or sometimes we were told by authority figures what we should like and not like so we don’t even know better? Give yourself the time and space to figure it out.
How are you going to know what you like if you don’t try it? Always go out there and try new things. Go to new events. Take new classes. I just took a cookie decorating course for the hell of it and it turns out I loved it! Now I’m inventing occasions so I can bring rad cookies to them.
